Portrait Transformation Reflection

The concept behind my portrait transformation is myself with a paintball gun as my only defense with a look of fear and fright, but have another version of me that is noticeably more confident and not afraid to show the two different reactions possible for me to express in that moment. I also made the picture of me being more confident brighter to highlight that the darkness of the forest has no control over my state of mind. As the picture of me scared portrays the control the dark forest has over me. The title of my project is confusion of expression.I am happy with my results because I feel I did a clean job pasting the pictures of myself into the forest. As well as effectively conveying my concept with the pictures I took. When doing my project I did not attempt any image adjustments. I decided I wanted to keep the images raw, because they originally portrayed my concept. But when pasting the picture of myself, I first downloaded the image and dragged it into my photoshop file with the picture of the forest. I then rasterized the image to make it possible to use the magnetic lasso tool to cut myself from the background of my personal photo. I then used the lasso tool to make the cut out cleaner. After that I inverted the image to get rid of everything around the outline of myself. I then free scaled myself to an appropriate size and moved my original picture layer on top of the forest, and placed myself where I found fit.

Joseph's Letter Project Reflection

At the beginning of the project I given a letter that I had to draw in a creative way, I was given the letter Y. To establish this idea I first made a list of words that began with Y. I then drew 20 thumbnail sketches to give me an idea of how my final would look. At first I played around with the idea of doing a ying-yang, but I didn't like how I drew it. I then decided to draw a tree branch in the shape of a Y. The idea was complemented by my peers, so I decided to begin my final on such. To represent the tree branch as a Y, I first looked up pictures of tree branches, and found one that resembled a Y. I then copyed the structure of the branch, and added smaller braches on it to make the Y look less like a letter but like a actual tree branch. The most challenging aspect of this project was deciding on the background. At  first I wanted to make it just black, but that would not emphasize the letter as much. So  I decided to make the background a light brown color, and to make the branch pop by highlighting it green. I used chalk pastel for the background, and color pencil for the branch. Im satisfied with my project, because I think it appropriately emphasizes my letter while making it not look like a just wrote out the letter. If I could change anything I would change the background color to a shade of purple, because I don't like the vibe that is represented with the shade of brown.

Summer Fun!!!!

Hello there, my name is Joseph. I am a high school student who is just doing what he is told. But seriously, I love doing fun things that are possible without leaving my house. I am also very friendly and chill.

- One thing that consumed most of my summer was playing video games. I enjoy competing and chatting with my friends while we have fun playing call of duty or 2k.

- Another thing I did was workout. I purchased a bench and some dumbbells and lifted. I did this over the summer because it gave me confidence, and I enjoy improving myself physically and mentally. I also don't have much time to workout during the school year.

-But the most important and pleasing thing I did over the summer was sleep. During the school year I was running on five hours of sleep a night. So it was important to get at least eight hours of quality time with my bed every night... or early morning.
